The Video Council is the UK’s largest industry body of senior experts in online video advertising from companies across the full value chain. It exists to set standards and educate brands through research and best practice. The council consists of over 50 senior industry professionals from the likes of Adjust Your Set, AOL, Base79, Bauer, Channel 4, Collective, FT, InSkin, ITV, Microsoft, MTV, News International, Sky, Specific Media, Starcom, Telegraph, Turner, Unruly, Yahoo!, YouTube, Virgin Media and VEVO. Doyle will champion online video advertising, the UK’s fastest growing advertising format. In the UK alone, online video advertising grew in 2011 by a market beating 100 per cent to reach £109 million (IAB / PwC Online AdSpend Study). He takes over from Simon Daglish, Group Commercial Sales Director at ITV and Dan Ruch, Vice President of Europe, at Tremor Video. One of Doyle’s first key initiatives will be overseeing the IAB’s annual half day video conference which takes place next Tuesday (11th September). The event will feature a range of leading experts in the field from the likes of Unruly Media, YouTube, comScore, Starcom, Nielsen, Microsoft and Channel 4. Commenting on his appointment Steve Doyle states: “I’m delighted to be given an opportunity to help shape the next year of progress in the Online Video world. We’ve made some great progress over the last 12 months, but there is still a great deal to be done. “The upcoming conference has over 200 people already signed up which shows the appetite for learning more about this sector, and it will be the Council’s job to deliver the awareness and education required. Online Video is a medium in its own right, so measurement, standardisation, and accreditation are all part of formalising this.” About the Video Council The IAB Video Council was established in June 2007 and has since grown to a committee of 60 leading companies in the VOD industry including leading media owners, media agencies, creative and production agencies and technology providers. The council is now the UK’s largest industry body of senior experts in online video advertising from companies across the full value chain. Its mission is to make trading easier, creation of industry standards and measurement, and to educate marketers on the full power of online video advertising.
